Route 59, freight trains and the honest drive to the city
West Chicago exists because railroads crossed here, and they still do. The Union Pacific West line, which also carries Metra, meets the north-south Canadian National freight line near downtown, and a long freight can block a grade crossing for several minutes at exactly the wrong moment. A driver who knows the area will use the Route 59 and Route 38 overpasses where possible, but if your pickup is near the old Turner Junction district, put a ten-minute cushion in the plan.
For Chicago, the usual route is Route 59 south to I-88, about 15 minutes, then east to the Hillside merge and the Eisenhower. North-side addresses sometimes do better taking North Avenue east to I-355. Either way, expect 55 to 70 minutes to the Loop on a weekend evening, 85 on a bad weekday, and about 50 coming home after midnight.

Golf outings and weddings at St. Andrews and Prairie Landing
Two golf properties shape a lot of West Chicago's group travel. St. Andrews Golf & Country Club on Route 59 has two courses and has hosted outings and banquets for generations. Prairie Landing Golf Club, a links-style course beside the airport, does a steady wedding and corporate-event business. Both sit on major roads with real parking lots, which makes them about the easiest venues in DuPage County for a full-size bus.
For a golf outing, the transportation question is usually the evening, not the morning: moving 30 or 40 people who have had a few drinks back to a hotel or the office. A shuttle bus with space for clubs underneath or in the rear is the right tool, and one designated organizer should hold the passenger list.
Weddings need more notice than most people give them, though the last-minute share is small: only 11% of wedding inquiries in our booking network arrived fewer than 14 days out, against 26% for all occasions. If you are inside a month, call and ask anyway, but be flexible on vehicle type. Both bring closures and crowds to the downtown blocks, and Reed-Keppler Park fills for carnival events. On those weekends, pick up from a residential street or a hotel, not from Main Street.
West Chicago Community High School, We-Go to everyone local, holds prom and homecoming like its neighbors, and students from the area also attend schools in neighboring districts. Student trips are alcohol-free, a parent signs the agreement, and an adult contact is named. Kress Creek Farm and the forest preserves are popular for fall photos; get the owner's or the district's permission first.
Autumn is also football season. Among sports inquiries in our network, 58% were for fall dates, and Sunday requests ran three times the overall rate. A Bears game day from West Chicago means a 9 am departure for a noon kickoff, a tailgate lot that accepts buses (confirm current stadium rules), and a return around 5 pm.
