Mondays and Tuesdays drew about 2% and 3%. A Wednesday or Thursday retirement send-off is asking for a vehicle at the least contested time of the week, which generally means more choice of size and style.

The exception is the season. December weeknights fill with company holiday parties, and late spring brings proms on Fridays and Saturdays, plus school-year-end retirements for teachers, which cluster in late May and June. For those periods, give yourself six weeks.

Otherwise, three to four weeks is a sound lead time, and it matches what organizers usually need anyway: time to collect contributions, confirm the dinner reservation, and quietly find out who is coming. Nearly a quarter of all inquiries arrive 14 to 29 days out, so you will be in ordinary company.
