How the pickup time is worked back from the start
The planner starts with the scheduled start and subtracts your gate buffer to get the At the gates time. If you set a pre-game stop, it assumes the long drive comes first and the stop is near the venue, so it allows 10 minutes to move from the stop to the gates. The pickup is then the gate time, minus 10 minutes, minus the length of the stop, minus your drive. With no pre-game stop, the pickup is simply the gate time minus your drive.
After the game, it adds the team's typical game length to the start to estimate the finish, adds a walk-out allowance to get the Meet the vehicle time, and adds your drive again for Back at your drop-off. If you tick the stay option, the span from pickup to drop-off is rounded up to the next half hour.
Game length and walk-out time come from the team. Everything else is a slider, so an honest drive figure is the most valuable input you can give. A Saturday morning run on the Kennedy is not a weeknight run at 5:30 PM. Check your drive in the route time estimator or a map app set to the actual day and hour.
Six teams, four venues, and different walk-out times
The typical lengths are 2 hr 45 min for the Cubs and White Sox, 3 hr 10 min for the Bears, 2 hr 20 min for the Bulls, 2 hr 30 min for the Blackhawks, and 2 hr for the Fire. The walk-out allowances differ because the venues do. Soldier Field gets 45 minutes for a Bears game because Museum Campus roads clog for about an hour after the final whistle, and a meeting point west of the tracks, a walk away, usually beats waiting in the campus lots.
Wrigley Field gets 30 minutes. It sits in a residential neighborhood with almost no parking and game-day street restrictions, so the plan is a drop several blocks out and a walk in with the crowd. Rate Field in Bridgeport, beside the Dan Ryan and surrounded by lots, gets 25 minutes, and the note tells you to ask the team about bus and oversize-vehicle parking and whether a pass must be bought ahead.
United Center also gets 25 minutes. It is ringed by official lots on Madison and Damen, with West Loop restaurants a few minutes east for the pre-game stop. Fire matches have a fixed running time, which makes that pickup the most predictable of the six.
Vehicle stays or two transfers: what the checkbox is for
There are two ways to buy game-day transportation. The vehicle can drop you, leave, and return at the meeting time, which is two one-way transfers. Or it can stay reserved for the whole span. With the box unticked, the planner reminds you to ask how each option is billed and compare. Ticked, it shows the hours to quote, rounded up to the half hour.
The span is long. A Bears game with a pre-game stop easily runs seven to eight hours from pickup to drop-off, and most of that is the vehicle waiting. Whether staying costs more than two transfers depends on the operator's minimums, the date, and where the vehicle can legally park, so get both priced on a written quote. Staying has practical advantages: bags and jackets can remain on board if the operator allows it, and nobody is depending on a second dispatch arriving through post-game traffic.
Stadium parking for large vehicles is its own question. Some venues sell bus or oversize passes in advance and some lots do not accept them at all. Ask the operator who arranges and pays for parking. Tailgating rules also vary by lot and season, so read the tailgating page and the venue's current guidance before packing a grill.
Extra innings, overtime, and a meeting plan that survives them
The finish time is labeled typical for a reason. Baseball has no clock, and extra innings can add half an hour or more. The Blackhawks note says overtime and shootouts add 15 to 20 minutes and advises a flexible pickup. Football runs long when there are reviews and late timeouts. The planner gives you a sound estimate, and the day decides the rest.
Build the meeting plan so it does not depend on the clock. Agree on a specific corner several blocks from the venue, not "outside Gate 3," because thousands of other people will be standing there. Agree that the meeting time is that many minutes after the final out or whistle. Share the driver contact details the operator gives you with two people, since one phone will be dead. If part of the group wants to leave early, decide in advance whether the vehicle waits for the rest.
Ask on your written quote how overtime is billed if the game runs long and the vehicle is held past the reserved hours. Fall is the crowded season: in a national dataset of inquiries across the booking network this company belongs to, among sports inquiries for 2024–2025 event dates, 58% of requested event dates fell in fall. Those are quote requests, not completed rides.
