What the two extra seats actually buy you

Apply the same rule to every sedan stretch: the comfortable number is about two below the rated number. In a ten-passenger car that gives you eight. Here it gives you ten, and that difference matters because ten is a very common group size. It is five couples. It is a wedding party of bridesmaids and groomsmen without the couple. It is a sales team and its clients.

The data explains why this size is the ceiling for sedan limos. Among inquiries quoted as a limousine in our booking network, 81% were for one to ten passengers and 18% for eleven to twenty. That smaller slice is where this car lives, along with the larger SUV stretches. If your count is a firm eleven or twelve adults, be honest with yourselves: you will fit, but shoulder to shoulder, and the ride is better kept under half an hour.

The longer bench also helps with things that are not people. Winter coats, gift bags for a birthday, garment bags for a wedding party, a modest soft cooler for an adult group. Five prom couples, one car

Prom groups form in couples, and five couples is where the ten-passenger cars stop working. Gowns eat space; ten students in formalwear need twelve seats' worth of bench. This car is the sedan-limo answer for that group, and it goes quickly in spring.

Driving the longest sedan stretch through Chicago

More length means more planning. A twelve-passenger stretch needs a generous arc to turn and a long, clear piece of curb to stop. On arterial streets such as Michigan, LaSalle, or Halsted that is no issue. On one-way residential blocks in Lakeview, Wicker Park, or Bucktown with cars parked tight on both sides, the driver may not be able to make the corner at all and will ask to meet you at the nearest through street. That is normal; give a pickup point that works instead of a front door that does not.

Suburban pickups bring different obstacles: cul-de-sacs where the turning circle is smaller than the car's, steep driveway aprons that can ground a long wheelbase, and subdivision speed humps taken at walking pace. Loading at the end of the driveway solves most of it.

Downtown, the low roof is an advantage. The car fits under hotel canopies and into the lower level drives on Wacker where some hotels and office towers have their entrances. Valet loops at smaller restaurants are usually too tight, so expect a curbside drop. Per-person cost when ten people share

A longer limousine generally carries a higher hourly rate than a ten-seater, but the rate is divided by more riders, so the per-person figure is often similar or lower when the car is properly filled. The expensive mistake is the opposite one: booking the larger car for seven people "just in case" and paying for bench nobody sits on.

Rates move with demand. Most limousine requests in our network, 77%, target Friday or Saturday, which is why weekend evenings carry the longest hourly minimums and prom-season Saturdays carry a premium on top. A Thursday client dinner or a Sunday birthday will usually cost less for the same car and hours.

Collect money before the night, not after.
